There are several basic requirements for survival. One is air. Without it you will have about 3 minutes. We can’t provide that. What we can provide is instruction in the other essential components.

This course teaches one those essential subjects vital for the first three days and which if in a wilderness scenario, could save your life – Fire. We will provide you with the knowledge, confidence and skill which will allow you to light and maintain a fire in any conditions.
Following a welcome, introduction and ‘toolbox’ talk, you will learn about the best location to site your fire with due regard to safety and environmental considerations and the preparation of the chosen site.
You will learn about the sourcing of a selection of appropriate tinder and kindling, in other words the material to use to start your fire. We will look at both natural and man-made materials. You will learn how to gather fuel and about the preparation and use of that material.
A range of ignition sources, again, natural and man-made, and the advantages and disadvantages of each method will then be explored. and then you will build, light, and maintain a fire by various methods. This will include friction fire lighting where we will demonstrate the bow drill (friction) method and you will get chance to have a go yourself and take the kit home with you.
