It involves teaming up with a qualified mountain leader:
and an experienced, professional medic:
Both have active, professional interests in the outdoors and emergency care.
Together we spend 2 days in a variety of wild terrain where we allow you to learn some essential outdoor skills, and we believe uniquely, with the addition of scenario-based and relevant, interactive, hands-on and practical first aid training.
You will learn about access, conservation and wild flora and fauna, and develop your route planning, kit choice, weather awareness, navigation skills, safety and walking skills – all essential to the the hillwalker in order to minimise the risk of a situation where first aid may become essential.

Interlaced with this you will learn about how to deal with various situations which may develop, and may require first aid treatment.

The first aid element of this weekend includes an Outdoor Emergency First Aid qualification. The course covers the essentials of managing minor and potentially life-threatening incidents in a systematic manner, ideal for anyone who is required to take charge at an incident outdoors.
Theory and practical elements will be interwoven into the other activities making it a more realistic experience throughout, utilising real world examples of incidents and emergency treatment including a search and rescue scenario.
Upon successful completion of this qualification, candidates will be equipped with the essential skills needed to give safe, prompt and effective first aid in emergency situations.
The qualification is valid for three years and can be used towards the full 16 hour ITC Outdoor first aid course if you are an outdoor professional.
