This course will provide you with a detailed knowledge of key aspects of current UK knife Law, always very topical, as well as grasping the implications of the need to justify the carrying and transportation of blades.
We will also provide teaching in the safe and competent usage of a fixed blade and a selection of appropriate and recognised techniques.
We will look at key dangers and safety considerations of the use of a variety of blades and demonstrate safe and competent usage of them as well as bow and folding saws, all the time utilising suitable safeguards.
In the afternoon we will discuss the properties of different types of wood and teach a bit about tree identification to source the right type of wood for any given task.
We will then teach you how to split wood and make a blank from which you will be able to carve your own spoon which you will take home with you.
